CAA Log information as requested by the CAA in CAP2606A
Are you looking to make the Log templates similar to those suggested by the CAA?
It would seem that they want the information in a certain format to comply with the new Audit procedures when applying for a OA renewal.
Additional information:
I have just been selected for a CAA Oversight Audit of my drone flying - as I use Dronedesk for my records I hoped this would do, but they have criticised the lack of information in the flight logs (despite its being readily available elsewhere in the reports). Is it possible to add optional columns for the data they need? It's all elsewhere in ronedesk, but I would hate to have to manually transcribe everything into a spreadsheet...This is what they say....
As a minimum, we expect the following information to be recorded for each flight to satisfy the requirements of the PDRA01 oversight process:
Date
Operator name
Operator ID
Remote Pilot name
Flyer ID
Operating category or authorisation
Operating location
Start time
End time
UAS type
UAS make and model
UAS serial number
UAS take-off mass
PDRA01 Authorisation number
Flight time for this flight
Cumulative flight time

In early October, we exchanged emails regarding the CAA's reviewing my PDRA01 and observing various inconsistencies (which they did not elaborate on). I wanted to wait until the matter was resolved before getting back to you so I could hopefully give you some constructive comments, rather than just a cry for help(!)
The CAA observation was this:
Finding Type Level 2 Non-safety related
Reference 2.1a Site Surveys
Regulation UK Regulation (EU) 2019/947.
Finding Accurate log bookkeeping is essential to maintain the records and logs as directed by UK Regulation (EU) 2019/947. It has been noted that you do not have an entry within your Flying Log book that corresponds to Flights undertaken within the PDRA01 Authorisation. You must keep accurate and honest logs and records of each flight to retain the Authorisation. See our website for further guidance.
Guidance It has been noted that there is a discrepancy between the Site Survey form data provided as part of this audit, and your Flight Logs. Please ensure that the Site Surveys that you have provided meet the criteria in the Assessment pack request. There should be a clear link between Flight Log entries and Site Survey details, notably matching dates, RPs and UA types used. Please ensure that the last 3 Site Surveys for flight(s) undertaken under the PDRA01 Authorisation match your Flight Log details and resubmit these for evaluation.
As far as I could see, the CAA comments were simply incorrect, as I had made custom packs of the last three flights in Dronedesk containing all the data they needed, including the flight logs.
My suspicion was that they had taken another document I had submitted as evidence of currency as being my flight log (despite warnings from me to the contrary). This only contained dates and flying hours.
Another interpretation was that they just want everything done precisely to their template (despite there being inconsistencies in the data they say they require according to various parts of their site).
My solution was to choose the template they have suggested, and submit my data in this format, also observing that I disagreed with their findings. Result? they say everything is fine and no further action is required and make no further comment.....
So I really don't know which of the possible reasons above was the real one!
However, I do think it would be good if Dronedesk were able to spew out the CAA 'approved template' flight log, as it would solve any issues going forward. It would also appear to be a fairly simple adjustment and may even be covered by your latest release. I attach the document I sent the CAA, so at least we know what they like!
